Heather's Baptism

Heather turned 8 while we have been on our spring break/wedding blitz! I am shocked at how quickly the last 8 years have gone. I remember moments that seemed to last forever...colic, ear infections, and teasing her sister. I also remember all the laughter & love she has brought into our lives. In the last 8 years Heather has become Aly's biggest cheerleader, advocate, and friend. Heather has loved and lost, learned what it feels like to have your heart hurt, and had more happiness than she has know what to do with. Lately I have noticed how much Heather loves. She loves with her heart wide open giving and receiving as much as she possibly can. I am super grateful for all that I have learned from Heather and for all the love she gives me.

The program for Heather's baptism was very simple. Grandma Priscilla gave the opening prayer. Aunt Becky played the piano. Aunt Sheila was the chorister. Aunt Holly spoke on baptism. Aunt Wendy spoke on the Holy Ghost. Grandma Sherry gave the closing prayer.

The talks were beautiful. Both Holly & Wendy are such great teachers. We were blessed to hear from them.

After Holly's talk Heather & I went into the changing room to snap the bottom of her dress so it wouldn't come up. She put the corsage Aunt Shelia had given her down and turned around. Heather was crying. My heart was already so full. I got on my knee and asked her what was wrong. She just kept crying. I told her she did not have to get baptized, it was her choice. She just shook her head and said no she wanted to get baptized. She told me she was nervous. I hugged her so tight. We said a prayer and I almost let her go with out snapping the bottom of her dress. She stepped into the font and slipped, but caught herself with her Dad's help. Then she was baptized. She smiled so huge when she came up. When I was helping her change and dry off I asked if she was alright. She said she felt so much better.

After Wendy spoke Heather was confirmed a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She sat down next to me and started crying again. I of course panic and ask what is wrong. She replied "nothing, this is my happy cry." It was very sweet.

We enjoyed treats & visited with all the family & friends who came to support Heather. Our hearts are full. Thank You.

Thank you Wendy for all the delicious treat you made for us!

I didn't take many pictures, but I am glad we got this one.

She is such a sweetheart. I remember experiencing my first "happy cry" right after I was confirmed. Wish we could have been there for her special day.
