The girls have turned into runners!!! They have cross country practice twice a week and 1 race each week. They also have 2 soccer practices and 1 game each week. Add onto that school, homework, projects and finding time to play with the neighborhood kids and surprisingly enough I heard the dreaded "I'm bored" today! As if!! I just turned and looked, and Miss Heather was out the door to play!
Cross Country
Heather is really good at running. She has placed 10th & 5th among crowds of 120+ racers!!! I don't know how her little body does it, but she rocks the mile! At the latest race the Mormon 4th grade girls were on fire! They took 4th, 5th, 7th, & 8th! They are all in our ward but ran for 3 different schools :)
Aly is a great runner! She determines not to stop no matter how miserable & hot the temperature is and she does it! I wait at the finish dripping sweat under my umbrella and she always crosses the finish with a smile. I am super proud of how hard she tries!
Soccer
Aly is number six. I was trying to get a picture of her, but if you look closely to her left you will see her friend Allison getting a header! This season has been great to watch Al really learn & implement soccer strategy. Her foot work has improved. Last year speed was her strongest asset but this year I think it is her brains & feet. Way to go Al!
Heather is number 11, I just caught her as she ran by. So far this season Heather is the star of our families favorite soccer moment. So there we were (We being Aly & I, Mike was hunting with the Young Men... Yes they gave 14 & 15 year old boys guns!) Aly & I are cheering for the Misfits like crazy when all of a sudden the play on the field STOPS! There was no whistle, no one hurt, but BAM nobody is moving. Girls are up on there toes acting like they might fall into a pit of snakes surrounding the soccer ball??? Fast like lightening Heather runs straight at the ball and give a huge kick! SPLASH!!!!! Mud & water is flying everywhere. The ball had landed in a pool of water in the middle of the field and the girls didn't want to get wet, I guess... Heather's kick splashed mud & water all over the other teams uniforms & faces! We all lost it! We laughed till the half ended. Then laughed even more as the other team ran through the tunnel at the end and we saw up close the damage Heathers kick did! They were a muddy mess! Afterwards we asked Heather why the girls all stopped. She mentioned that they must not have wanted to get muddy as she giggled to herself...
I haven't been the best at remembering my camera at these events and when I do I often forget to use it! I will do better! These girls are amazing & I don't want to miss a thing!
