Girls Camp 2013

4 days after school ended for the summer Heather was in Idaho with the Martins and Aly, Mike, & I were at Girls Camp.  Girls Camp is always Stake camp and always at the same place, Treasure Mountain.  Treasure mountain is in the Tahoe National Forest about 2 hours from Rocklin.  8 or 9 Stakes come every year and each year each Stake does something to improve the camp, so it just keeps getting better and better!  This camp is amazing!!!  The girls get to do Tomahawks, Archery, BB guns, Water front, Ropes courses (C.O.P.E.), Destiny, Crafts, & Humanitarian work.  This year Mike & I were able to help with the ropes course.  We had so much fun!
Rocklin 1st ward, 51 girls plus leaders!
Aly on a hike with Aubrey, Scarlette, Hailey, Sister Wellman, Kaitlyn, Maddy, Blythe, Olivia, & Aly

Look closely, Aly's face is priceless!
  Mike double checking Aly's equipment.
I LOVE this picture.
These are the moments & the reasons we chose to be there.
We love this girl!!!!
Aly had 2 tries at climbing the milk crates.  The first time she beat Mike & I's record of 17 & 18.  The second time she tried she got the camp record for 2013!  21 milk  crates stacked upside down on top of each other!!!!!  On her amazing climb I was passing crates to her & Mike had her secured with the ropes.
We begin by handing the crates to the girls, then placing the crates on the end of a broom, then as they get higher, a long stick, until finally we just toss the crates up & the girls need to catch the crates.
 There she goes!!!
The ride down is always fun!
 Dad & Camp Champ!
Mike helping get the zip line secured & ready to go.  The girls had so many great opportunities at the ropes course.  Confidence Pole, Giants Ladder, Giant Swing, Caterpillar, Zip Line, Vines, & more.  Plus all the team & confidence building games!!! Awesome.

Each ward was given a body of water in the world as a theme.  Our ward got the Polynesian Islands.  For the skit the girls did a Hakka dance.
As a C.O.P.E. crew we chose the Bermuda Triangle as our body of water and dressed like pirates.  C.O.P.E. seems to have the reputation as the rule breakers so pirates seemed fitting.  Mike & I fit in great!  Here is Mike teaching what it takes to make a good pirate during our skit.
Aly had a great time at camp.  Each time we saw her she gave us and hug & took off.  If she lingered long enough for us to talk she reminded us "NO mothering, NO fathering!"  She has wonderful leaders who love her.  We love all that she learned, the friendships she made, and the independence she gained.  We are happy that she met some girls that will hopefully be a familiar face as she begins middle school.
Looking forward to at least 7 more years of camp!
