Thanksgiving was a lot of fun this year. We stayed in Salt Lake and had our traditional Cahoon gathering down at my aunt's ward house. Lots of great food and great company. Our family choose Alyson to represent our us in the talent show. She was a magician with Heather Belle as her assistant. She made a nickel disappear and then pulled it out of my ear. Wow! She loved it. The famous game of basketball "Lightening" was a blast and the girls got to do lots of crafts and run around with new cousins.
We then headed for the 2nd meal of the day....down to my other aunt's home for a delicious meal. I especially enjoyed the molasses pudding and fruit/slushy drink. I had to try everything! Alicia had a good time chatting with the aunts and uncles. Heather loved playing tug-o-war with the little dog.
On Friday we went out to buy our Christmas tree. We found a beautiful 6 foot spruce and hauled it home. The roof rack sure came in handy this year. The girls unpacked every ornament and Christmas decoration in the house. It was almost like Christmas morning with how exicted they were, since they are still remembering the great decorations their mom has gathered over the past few years. We have some good pictures we'll include on our post.
Saturday morning we were invited for breakfast and swimming at our friends hotel in downtown Salt Lake. It was fun to swim in the 85-90 degree water and then hit the steam room. It was so nice to relax and be with friends. They were very kind to include us.
After the swim, Alicia took the girls out for a movie while I had a big football party. The annual Utah vs. BYU game was a real shocker. BYU walked right over the Utes in Q1 (no surprise) but lost their steam soon after. The Utes adjusted and took over the rest of the game. They scored 24 consecutive points until BYU finally got their offense back. The final play ended with a BYU receiver catching the ball in the end zone with 0.0 seconds on the clock. Only 2 points seperated them on the final score. Needless to say, BYU pulled it out and sealed the conference championship. All over the radio, all you heard was the excitement of the last play, even though Utah took it to them for 3 of the 4 quarters. Nobody will ever remember how well the Utes played, especially since they were expected to loose by 30 points.
The last highlight was Heather Belle. She started a pre-school class on Monday. How excited she was to be in school now (like everyone else). She is growing up so fast. I can't believe she was only 6 weeks old when we brought her into our home here in the Village. I miss having a small one to hold. Heather is 1 of 2 girls that are not bilingual. Maybe she'll pick up some Spanish...yes!! Take care and we love you all.
